This pair of mylar protectors are for the Fizmo kickout on the left below the mimic and the VUK entrance behind the spinner at the top center of the playfield. They are designed to provide extra protection from playfield chipping caused by ball hits near hole edges in the playfield where they commonly happen. A single use rubbing alcohol wipe is also included to clean playfield wax and debris before application of the mylar.
TO INSTALL:
NOTE: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE CHIPPING DAMAGE AT EITHER LOCATION YOU MUST ARREST THAT FIRST WITH CLEAR NAIL POLISH or it may continue to break up under the mylar. Clear nail polish will prevent the chip from advancing under the mylar. Get some plain Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails clear nail polish and lightly cover the chipped area. Let it dry completely for a few hours before proceeding to mylar application. If you have chip damage already, don't rush the process - let the nail polish dry COMPLETELY for a few hours before installing mylar.
SPINNER/VUK MYLAR
- Remove 4 screws holding plastic behind spinner assembly. Remove plastic.
- Remove two posts holding spinner assembly down.
- Use alcohol wipe to wipe VUK area thoroughly. Also wipe Fizmo area before the alcohol evaporates off wipe. Wait a minute for both to completely dry.
- Remove backing from mylar.
- Use your finger against the edge of the VUK hole to orient the mylar so it comes up to where the playfield drops away. Make sure you're centered side-to-side, too.
- Press mylar to the playfield at the edge of the VUK, check alignment, then if it's good, continue pressing mylar to playfield all the way around hole. Use edge of credit card with moderate pressure to smooth mylar and make it "disappear," becoming clear on the playfield.
- Re-install spinner and two posts.
- Re-install plastic above spinner and 4 screws.
FIZMO MYLAR
- Note that the stock large area dragon mylar has a zig zag edge ending not far from Fizmo that the Fizmo mylar follows. When installed, there should only be a slight gap of maybe 2-3mm between the Fizmo zigzag and the stock dragon mylar.
- Remove backing from mylar.
- Use your finger against the edge of the circular scoop to orient the mylar so it comes up to where the playfield drops away. You want it to come up to the bevel where the playfield angles away, but not hang OVER the bevel. You can use the half moon on the post to the side as a visual reverence point for proper alignment, too.
- Press mylar to the playfield at the edge of the kickout circle, check alignment, then if it's good, continue pressing mylar to playfield all the way around hole and back up towards the dragon mylar. Use edge of credit card with moderate pressure to smooth mylar and make it "disappear."
