Foo Fighters has been getting near constant play at the monastery since it arrived. The music and light show are a big hit and have been driving the shameful addictive tendencies of this imperfect form, requiring game after game after game. Often times, the games extend well into the night, and Apa joins Jampo and Laysah watching the action. Over time I noticed that Apa looked away when the bright white inserts lit up, notably Austin/OVERLORD/DC. His nocturnal vision was just too sensitive for such a beam of pure white light in a darkened room.
To make the playfield more harmonious and easier for Apa to take in, I decided to do something about the large white inserts in the center. I would make the OVERLORD bracket green to match the sickly demeanor of the being itself and then color the Austin/DC inserts on each side of it a complementary shade of green with some blue for good measure. In short order I had a bracket made that was a snap to install between the light board and the playfield. Voilà! The inserts were now much easier on the eyes and the color scheme made more sense.
Whether or not you have a mountain weasel’s eyes to consider, you can make this aesthetically-pleasing change to your Foo Fighters machine as well for a reasonable cost and a little time for installation. Just a warning, though: once you have done it, all stock machines will look wrong to you.
