As I grew into the monk I am today, I gained appreciation for one of the proverbs I didn’t understand as a child. It became one of my favorites. In English, it goes something like, “Any fool can say ‘ah,’ but you need intelligence to say ‘Yes.’”
Essentially, it means that you can go with the flow and be uncontroversial, not taking a stand on any conversation or point by just making conversational sounds, or you can take a stand and say “Yes” (or “No”) and let others know where you stand concretely.
The 2X Scoring, Burn it Back, and 2X Playfield Multiplier inserts on Stranger Things are the design equivalent of just making “mmm” or “ah” sounds, but not making a statement. All three of them deal with fire, yet all three inserts are boring, piercing white. And so I have said “YES” to the challenge of making them match what they are about more perfectly by designing gradient insert brackets that graduate from red to orange, simulating a burning look that more accurately reflects their purpose in the design, as well as what happens on the screen when they are activated. Each insert bracket has two colored films to create the effect, so it’s like six brackets in the space of three, and the effect of that in the game is quite impressive.
The kit includes three brackets, each with two insert films at an angle and instructions on how to adjust them so you get the amount of red/orange displayed to your personal taste. You can also adjust it so any or all of the inserts are just red or just orange, but the gradient effect is the one you will likely want. The kit also includes 3 longer screws so you can make sure the brackets are locked into the position you choose securely as the factory ones are too short for both an LED board and a bracket.
